It’s always great as a photographer to see your images used, especially on big occasions, and especially when there are a multitude of images available which could illustrate that story. So I was especially pleased last week, on the morning after the announcement of the death at 95yrs of Nelson Mandela, to find my image of Mandela used as the main image on the New York Post homepage.
The photo of Mandela was taken in 1993, in Glasgow, Scotland, when he was here to collect his Freedom of the City. I was there as a young fledgling photographer, working on assignment for a Sunday paper. It’s great to see these images still used, a shame it is in these circumstances though.
