Thoughts of a Tokyo, Japan-based editorial corporate portrait assignments photographer

Souped Up.

A couple of weeks back I had an assignment here in Tokyo, Japan, to photograph ramen noodle culture. Oodles of noodles in the pictures, and oodles of noodles consumed on expenses.  It was a good little job, one where I got to eat, shoot and leave. (And greatly assisted by GoRamen, rameniac and Ramenate). Now the story has appeared in the magazine, The Independent On Sunday Review, and can be seen with a small online slideshow of the ramen photos along with the very fine text by Michael Booth, of (‘Sushi and Beyond‘ fame.). The photos aren’t the ones I would have chosen, but such is freelance editorial assignment life and the resulting spreads. You can see here the full take of Japanese ramen noodle culture photographs from the afternoon’s shoot.
