So, few nights back. Standing on the terrace, chatting with my mate from next door. He’s telling me about his experience of running the Tokyo marathon the day before. Shoes this, rain that, 10 kilometres here, and then, he said to me “was the best bit, I ran past Jesus”. And he describes it..he runs past a figure in a billowing white dress. The guy has the long straggly hair, all the more straggly due to being completely rain drenched. The guy has a beard. And on his head, a crown of thorns. And the guy, saviour of us all, is carrying a wooden cross. And at the top of his wooden cross there is his marathon running bib number tacked on.
Sometimes people tell you stuff, and you just think to your self, now there was a picture….Jesus Christ running a marathon. Nice. I’d have liked that photograph.
But a few years back I did get a shot of the Tokyo police department carrying a crucifix. That made me smile as I was taking it.

Did you run the marathon last weekend? I was waiting for the Tsunami that never came at Enoshima but was thinking of all you long distance plodder types battling through the rain. I could never do that! Impressed by people who can. Great set of images by the way (numbers 4 and 5 especially), not everyday you hear a story or see a story like that.
