If there are any young photographer whippersnapper readers of this blog, then turn away now, this post won’t interest you. To the older readers, and you know who you are, here’s a great link via good friend Wattie. It takes you to a portfolio of images of photographic darkroom interiors, shot by Richard Nicholson, capturing the looks of the last remaining, and rapidly dwindling, professional darkrooms in London.
It brings back memories of printing in cupboards, trays of chemicals going cold, blue tack on the end of wire, 10×8 box lids with holes punched in them, the thick black bags inside Ilford boxes, and of the little white and black plastic focus finders (- see it in one of the images in above slideshow). Ah yes, those were the days.
And here’s a link to photographs by Wattie Cheung, a few years back he was prone to a bit of burning and dodging himself.
