An interesting story here on The Guardian, giving the background behind Don McPhee’s iconic image of the British miners strike taken at Orgreave colliery in 1984.  The story tells of efforts to track down the now (in)famous miner and policeman who stare at each other on the picket lines. Fascinating to read, and to find out what they were both like and what they were thinking in those tumultuous times.

There is also a slideshow of 8 images of the ‘Battle of Orgreave’ by Don McPhee.

I wrote previously about British miners strike images here, and also of David Peace’s book GB84.
