So a while back I was in prison here in Japan. Doing time. Porridge. In the slammer. For what I hear you all chuckle ? – Crimes against photography ? Crimes against squint horizons ? Crimes for the non-use of flash ? Yeah, yeah, yeah, funny, the lot of you….
Nope, I was in prison on assignment, in and out in 5 hours. Time off for good behaviour and good pictures. To see a slideshow of my prison experiences you can go here, and to read the accompanying article by our very own Justin McCurry, go here.
The paper has played very safe with their choices of pics and seem to have used as few images as possible with actual prisoners in them. I had sent many more images with prisoners, although with identities disguised in some cunning way. Shame they didn’t run more of those. Ach well.
