Denis Straughan. What a guy. I worked with him for many years in Scotland. He was an old time press snapper, had seen it all. On the wall of the photographers room in the building we worked was a picture of Denis from days of old, holding an old medium format camera, the camera of choice in those days. Latterly in his career it was all autofocus…he’d seen all the changes.
Dennis is the type of guy people call a living legend. Brown suntanned skin, roasted on Greek beaches every year. ‘Sun protection’ is not a phrase Denis knew. After all, his big gold medallion wouldn’t look good against white Scottish skin, his tan helped the gold to shine.

And now he’s taken more gold, or at least a lifetime achievement award. Great news. Well done that man. A living legend.
