I was reading today the ‘Kids With Cameras’ website, a project on which two of my friends Jason Eskenazi, and Gigi Cohen have both worked.

The ‘Kids With Cameras’ project was started by Zana Briski, who began working and photographing with children living in the brothels of Calcutta, India, by giving the kids cameras with which to document their lives. This project evolved and became a film, ‘Born Into Brothels’, and went on to win an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The ‘Kids With Cameras’ initiative has gown with other projects started in Haiti, Jerusalem and Cairo. The website is very informative, shows the kid’s photographs, their personal histories and the project outlines. There are also many ways you can support the project by buying prints, limited edition box-sets, books, and a DVD of the film.
