So three years on and the Mars Rover camera vehicles, ‘Spirit’ and ‘Opportunity’, are still sending back great images from the surface of red planet Mars. The project was only expected to last 92 days but they’re still roaming around and shooting and sending. Some great images from the surface of Mars can be seen here on Time magazine photo essay pages.

Wow! great pictures. I can`t remember the author but one Sci-fi writer looked at all those images of the geography of Mars and thought it would be a great place to go hiking so wrote about it. Even official people like Jim Garvin, Chief Scientist for NASA’s Mars Exploration Program, have gotten in on the act too with a hiking trail map around the “face”. Have a look at http://www.camp4.com/news/offroute.php?newsid=520 for other people`s adventurous ideas on the red planet.
